Two films top the Oscars shortlist



The nominations for the 80th Academy Awards ingest been announced, with 'No Land for Old Men' and 'There Will Be Blood' leading the shortlist with eight-spot nominations for each one.
'Atonement', 'Juno' and 'Michael Clayton' have got also received numerous nominations.
As expected Wicklow resident Daniel Day-Lewis has been nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in 'There Will Be Blood'.
The other nominees for Best Histrion ar: George V Clooney ('Michael Clayton'), Johnny Depp ('Sweeney Todd'), Tommy Lighthorse Harry Lee Inigo Jones ('In the Valley of Elah') and Viggo Mortensen ('Eastern Promises').
The Best Actress shortlist is: Cate Blanchett ('Elizabeth: The Golden Age'), Julie Agatha Christie ('Away from Her'), Marion Cotillard ('La Compete en Rose'), Laura Linney ('The Savages') and Ellen Page ('Juno').
The nominees for Topper Supporting Histrion ar: Casey Affleck ('The Assassination of Jesse Henry James by the Sir Noel Pierce Coward Henry M. Robert Ford'), Javier Bardem ('No Land for Old Men'), Prince Philip Seymour Dustin Hoffman ('Charlie Wilson's War'), Hal Holbrook ('Into the Wild') and Gobbler Sir Geoffrey Wilkinson ('Michael Clayton').
Along with Irish adolescent Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett ('I'm Not There'), Ruby Dee ('American Gangster'), Amy Ryan ('Gone Baby Gone') and Tilda Swinton ('Michael Clayton') cause been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category.
Shortlisted for Best Director are: Julian Artur Schnabel ('The Diving Alexander Melville Bell and the Butterfly'), Jason Reitman ('Juno'), Tony Gilroy ('Michael Clayton'), Joel and Ethan Coen ('No Country for Old Men') and Apostle of the Gentiles Lowell Thomas Anderson ('There Will Be Blood').
The films nominated for Best Word-painting ar: 'Atonement', 'Michael Clayton', 'No Land for Old Men', 'There Testament Be Blood' and 'Juno'.
The five films nominated for Best Foreign Picture show are: 'The Counterfeiters' (Republic of Austria), 'Beaufort' (Yisrael), 'Katyn' (Polska), 'Mongol' (Kazakh) and '12' (Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic).
The nominees for Best Infotainment Feature are: 'No End in Sight', 'Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience', 'Sicko', 'Taxi to the Darkness Side' and 'War/Dance'. 
The nominees for C. H. Best Animated Film are: 'Persepolis', 'Ratatouille' and 'Surf's Up'.
The nominees for Topper Adapted Screenplay are: Saint Christopher Lionel Hampton ('Atonement'), Sarah Polley ('Away from Her'), Ronald Harwood ('The Diving Alexander Bell and the Butterfly'), Book of Joel and Ethan Coen ('No Country for Old Men') and Alice Paul Thomas Anderson ('There Will Be Blood').
The nominees for Best Archetype Screenplay are: Diablo Buffalo Bill Cody ('Juno'), Nancy Joseph Oliver ('Lars and the Real number Girl'), Tony Gilroy ('Michael Clayton'), Jan Pinkava, Jim Capobianco and Brad Bird ('Ratatouille') and Tamara Jenkins ('The Savages').
